2005 TAFT OILDORADO GRAND PARADE
2005 THEME
“Honoring Our Home
Town Military Heroes”
is the theme for the 2005 Taft
Oildorado Grand Parade. Special points will be given to entries that
best exemplify and honor members of the armed forces including; Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Members of the Fellows
American Legion Post will be honored as Grand Marshals for the Parade.
They are being recognized for decades of service as Flag Bearers at
community events.
PRE-REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION
All persons
registering prior to the parade will receive confirmation by mail or
email. Entries received after the registration deadline will be
accepted and parade assignments will be distributed at check-in on the
day of the parade.
CHECK-IN LOCATION, STAGING & GROUP UNLOADING
All parade
entries must display an entry number that may be picked up starting at
8:00am on the day of the parade. The parade check-in booth will be
located in the parking lot across from New Hope Temple at 300 Block of
Harrison Street between Date and Cedar Streets. Bands and other large
groups will be directed to their assigned division staging locations.
All busses and support vehicles will be directed to park at the
disbanding area located at Center Street and Adkisson Way.
DIS-BANDING
The Taft
Oildorado Parade will end at the corner of Center Street and Adkisson
Way. Once all bands and other groups have checked in, busses and other
vehicles may park in the lot located at Adkisson Way and Center Street.

JUDGING
The parade judge platform will be
located on
6th
Street in front of Lincoln Junior High School. A panel of impartial
community representatives will score entries according to the categories
listed below. Participation ribbons and trophies will be distributed
prior to the start of the parade. Results for special category awards
will be announced and awards presented at 1:00pm in the Oildorado Store
parking lot located at Center and 3rd Streets.
AWARDS - FLOATS
SWEEPSTAKES TROPHY
will be awarded to the best overall float in the parade.
BEST TAFT FLOAT
will be awarded to the best local entry from the areas of Taft, Maricopa
and surrounding communities.
BEST FLOAT FROM ANOTHER COMMUNITY will be awarded to the best entry from outside the
Taft area.
AWARDS - BANDS
All bands marching in the parade will
receive a participation trophy.
AWARDS - AUTOS, TRUCKS & MOTORCYCLES
All
Individual and club entries will receive a participation ribbon.
AWARDS - EQUESTRIAN
1st and 2nd place
Trophies will be awarded in the single and group rider categories.
DISPUTES
The four
member Oildorado Parade Committee reserves the right to handle any and
all disputes that may arise in the awarding of trophies. Their decision
will be final one hour before following the end of the parade. All
winners may pick up their trophies/and or ribbons at the Taft Oildorado
Store located at 306 Center Street, Taft.
